August 11 - It Only Takes a Spark...

Ground zero of the August 10, 2018 South Lagoon Mountains Fire seems to be this little canyon on the southwest slope, just adjacent to I-80 (surprise, surprise).

The conflagration quickly spread upslope, all the way northeast to the other side of the ridge, also eventually burning part of Lagoon Valley proper.

To

observe the aftermath,

we have to get out there, of course, first picking up Megan

and

then

heading

northwest

to

the freeway,

getting off almost immediately at Rivera

to the first scenes of

scorch,

and

on

towards

right up close and personal

to what looks like

the

ignition point.

Eventually

reversing

course,

a

tour

in both

directions of

Valley,

to the

housing area that had

fearsome front-row seats to

yesterday's flames.

From here,

contour around to the southeast side,

northward on Peabody,

to another post-inferno frontier,

here formed by

Hancock

and

Discovery.

With direct access homeward still blocked near

perhaps tthe sole housing casualty of the combustion,

head further

northeast

on

Vanden, drop Megan off,

make an errand run

and
